the girl

Name: Margaret. But for online/blogging purposes, I generally go by Sidny. I was bored when I was fifteen, didn't love my name, and wanted to be creative - now half of the people refer to me as Margaret, and the other half as Sid/Sidny. It's only a little bit confusing when I meet new people.
Birthdate: 26 November 1983. So, I'm thirty-something, and a Sagittarius. And I like presents. ;)
Where I'm from: I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but grew up (ages 5-19) in northeastern Pennsylvania. At nineteen, I headed back to Philadelphia for college (which I never finished because the appeal of moving south got to me!). I spent a few months in southern New Jersey before moving with my two then-besties to the Nashville, Tennessee area for a couple of years. Then it was back to south Jersey, then off to eastern Maryland. I finally came back to northeastern Pennsylvania in Spring 2017, and think I'll probably be in this area for a while. I swore I'd never move back "home," but here I am.
What I do: I work full-time for a large retailer, as an optician. I only started in that role in November 2019, but I am enjoying it and constantly learning a lot. I also promote BEpic, because it's amazing stuff, and has managed to give me back my life that I didn't even realize I was missing out on.
Pets: (because obviously this is one of my most important things about me!). Seven small dogs (Madden, Champ, Tucker, Abby, Benjamin, Bader and Patrick), one not-so-small dog (Spencer) and six feline leukemia positive cats (Harlow, Murray, Niles, Ripley, Reddington and Matilda), and a seventh cat, who isn't feline leukemia positive (Zelda) who came to me with possible toxoplasmosis, and is being treated - and vaccinated for feline leukemia so that she can hang out with her siblings.

The besties: I think it's pretty weird that I don't have just one best friend like most people seem to, but I'm super lucky because I have five girls who I consider my best friends. Sadly, they all live far away (the closest one being about a three hour drive from where I live). Tori is my constant road trip buddy and it's probably a good thing that she lives on the other side of the state, otherwise we'd be constantly making mischief. Beth somehow always finds a way to be there when I need her, even though she stays busy as a mom of two little boys - she used to sit on the back patio with me when we lived in the same apartment complex and chat, when we just needed a drink and to vent. Adele and I realized we had weird things in common when we were working together in Maryland, and our senses of humor were really similar. Heather always gives the best advice, is hilarious, insanely generous, and always finds a way to be there for important events. Teresa is my awesome road trip buddy, who actually manages to be practical on our trips - and her daughter Cami is my junior bestie, who I occasionally "kidnap" for road trips.

Musical tastes: I'm primarily a country girl (give me country music from the 1990's and early 2000's and I'm a happy girl!). I grew up on Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and the like. My first artist/group I was crazy about was SHeDAISY (late 90's, early 2000's - they were the first concert I ever went to!). I spent a few years getting to see Emerson Drive a lot (I think I made it up to about 80 shows - which pales in comparison to my friends who'd seen them 200+ times). I used to follow Little Big Town back when no one seemed to know who they were, and they were driving themselves to gigs in a white van. My current favorite - and the only shows I have seen in the last few years - are Thom Shepherd & Coley McCabe (amazing songwriters, amazing singers, and wonderful sweet friends - crazy to think I've known Thom since 2003. I've traveled fourteen hours for a Thom and Coley show before, and it was entirely worth it).
All-Time Favorite songs: "Imagine" by John Lennon. "One of These Days" by Coley McCabe. "Without the Song" by Thom Shepherd. "Safe in the Arms of Love" by Martina McBride. "No One Needs to Know" by Shania Twain. "Shut up and Drive" by Chely Wright
Hobbies and such: I like to write, but have gotten incredibly out of practice (hence trying to come back to the blogging thing, and working on honing my skills). I crochet, but everyone always tries to get me to make really cool things, and I'm like "how about a scarf instead...?" Driving around aimlessly generally makes me happy - as does driving around with a destination in mind (road trips with my girl friends make life so much better). And of course, being a huge nerd, I play Pokémon Go - I'd say I'm a casual player compared to other people I have seen, but I do thoroughly enjoy it. I'm also getting back into World of Warcraft, but am also very much a casual player there as well.
