sweet taxes, batman!

I got bored the other night and decided to mess around on Turbo Tax and estimate how much money I would be getting back from the government this year. I'd not yet gotten my 1098 form from school, so I was just guessing numbers when I was filling out the form, just to get an idea. I originally thought I would get about $2500 - enough to pay off my medical bills, Madden's medical bills, and a few other little bills that I got behind on, plus buy four new tires for my car, get an oil change (it's just about due), and get something checked out on my car. Perfect. So, I was toying with the numbers, and found out I would be getting back around $3100. SCORE! Money to actually play with, and get myself a few things. Well, the 1098 form became available today, so I finished off my taxes. I am getting over $3500 back. Life is good. All because I went back to school this year. Oh, goodness!

I am going to treat myself to a few things that I want - seasons 3 and 4 of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, The entire series of Dr Quinn: Medicine Woman (which is on sale at Wal-Mart.com right now for about sixty bucks. Dear life, you are so so so good! Love, Sid), seasons 1-4 of Touched by An Angel (why oh why can't they release the rest of the series to DVD?! I would be so excited!), and season 2 of Early Edition (only because I can't find seasons 3 and 4 on Wal-Mart.com or Amazon.com... but if I can find them between now and when tax money comes, I will be picking those up as well). I am basically going to be reliving the mid-late 1990's with my favorite TV shows ever. I am so excited!

  2. Great article. Thanks for the info, very helpful. BTW, if anyone needs to fill out a form 1098, I found a blank form here: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1098--2011.pdf and also here http://goo.gl/pU409
