I got bored the other night and decided to mess around on Turbo Tax and estimate how much money I would be getting back from the government this year. I'd not yet gotten my 1098 form from school, so I was just guessing numbers when I was filling out the form, just to get an idea. I originally thought I would get about $2500 - enough to pay off my medical bills, Madden's medical bills, and a few other little bills that I got behind on, plus buy four new tires for my car, get an oil change (it's just about due), and get something checked out on my car. Perfect. So, I was toying with the numbers, and found out I would be getting back around $3100. SCORE! Money to actually play with, and get myself a few things. Well, the 1098 form became available today, so I finished off my taxes. I am getting over $3500 back. Life is good. All because I went back to school this year. Oh, goodness!

Eek I'm only getting like $160 according to TurboTax. Fail. =p
ReplyDeleteThat is majorly lame.
ReplyDeleteGreat article. Thanks for the info, very helpful. BTW, if anyone needs to fill out a form 1098, I found a blank form here: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1098--2011.pdf and also here http://goo.gl/pU409
