Saturday adventures

I planned on today being a laid-back low-key kind of day. I would wake up, go to the laundromat, come back and exercise... count my calories like I usually do. You know, normal day (minus the work thing - hooray for not only have a weekend off, but for it being the first weekend of the month, which tends to be retail HELL).

Well, I did wake up. The roommate and I went to the county dump to get rid of our trash for the week, and then headed out to breakfast. I had a delicious vegetarian omelet, but forgot to ask for no cheese, so I ate it, cheese and all. We then headed to the laundromat, but discovered that their change machine wasn't working, and we hadn't brought quarters. We decided to head home and perhaps venture later to the laundromat. And that's where the normal, boring Saturday ends.

By the time we got home, my roommate decided that he needed to go to the hospital. For a few days, he has been having severe pains in his lower back, which by today had migrated to his front side. He thought it might be kidney stones, so off to the emergency room we went. The emergency room turned into a three hour ordeal of a blood test, urinalysis, cat scan. The end result? "Oh, there's nothing wrong with you. Probably just a muscle strain." Poor roommate. Poor lack of a diagnosis when he's clearly in pain.

Since we were in the next town over, which houses all sorts of fun stuff, I talked him into heading to the Amish Market with me, and we got pretzel salad, because so many people I know have raved about it. IT WAS AMAZING. Then we hit our favorite local Mexican restaurant for a late lunch. I discovered on the way home that the cheese I had had in my breakfast and lunch was causing my face to break out again - hooray! Well, not hooray because my face broke out, but hooray because I now have a definitive answer to the question: why the hell is my face such a red awful mess?! Cheese. Freaking cheese.

Then we stopped at Tractor Supply on the way home so that I could buy vaccinations for the dogs. I've never self-administered vaccines, but figured it couldn't be THAT hard, right? Came home, gave the dogs shots (Champ was, as his name states, an absolute Champ about it! Madden on the other hand cried every time the needle came near her skin. It finally took my roommate bribing her with cheese, and then she was all set).

Then came a Wal-Mart run for prescriptions for the roommate. Then home to just hang out and do nothing. I've finally gotten in my exercise for the day, though I will do another couple of miles on the bike before I head to bed. The dogs and I are snuggled up on the couch watching "Labor Day." I've been excited about this movie since I saw the preview - so excited that it is finally out and I own it so I can finally get around to watching it!

  1. Hooray for Saturdays off! I'm not sure why Saturdays off feel so much different than my usual Wednesday off, but they do.

    1. I know, right?! My days rotate (I'm currently on a three on/three off schedule - AMAZING!), so I end up with like three weekends on/three weekends off or something. I don't know. I like it though. ;) Next weekend I'm off Friday/Saturday/Sunday! YAY!
